bad diva

naughty diva

i think i’ve lost a little bit of enthusiasm for the blog here. i suppose it’s the extreme lack of interest from the outside world but it’s also the fact that we have so many other networks for the band that this seems a bit obsolete. anyway, i will try and keep it up because you never know…

we have two gigs lined up. the first is on the 22nd march 2009 with dj ladydust

tiki-bed-med

it’s at tiki. next door to the acropolis tube station.ladydust doesn’t play athens very often (because no-one pays in this city!) so this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. see you all there.

after that we have a gig at after dark on the 23rd of april. details will follow later…

sorry for being a crappy diva.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

i must try harder.

and so on….

our long lost drummer

so our drummer, michalis has been sunning himself on a beach in crete for the past two weeks, leaving the rest of the band to suffer in the concrete jungle. but we have just heard on the grapevine (he called) that he’s heading back next week. not that we want to cut short his island paradise holiday but hell, we miss playing ! get your tanned backside back here, you drummer person you.

(we’ve missed you too !)

we are playing in lamia next month as you already know, faithful reader (are you still here ?). by all accounts, the city is a bit like slough without the charm. although it does have a castle, which slough does not. but we’re not going as tourists are we ? we’ll be there to light up the city with our own brand of rock and roll mayhem. i hope all you lamites will be at the gig now that i have insulted your place of residence.

slough with a castle

press release from emi

MIMS IMPOSTER DISCOVERED
PERFORMING IN GREECE!

Athens, Greece

Capitol Records hip-hop breakthrough artist MIMS can apparently do magic and appear in two countries at once, according to dedicated fans in Athens, Greece.

Loyal MIMS fans attended a concert on June 10th hosted by a promotions company entitled “Knockout Productions”. The production company promoted the concert heavily via the internet and with fliers around Athens. It was to be one of the most anticipated shows of the summer; however, there was just one problem. Shortly after the concert began, loyal fans quickly noticed that the man performing was not Capitol Recording artist MIMS – it was an IMPOSTER!!!

“We paid so much money at the door, and we feel we got cheated. The artist appeared on stage with a hood, sunglasses and a baseball hat” stated the US fan who was visiting Athens for the summer. “Everybody started shouting “fraud” & “cheater” and left the club. I live in the States, but I am here for a few months for work and I knew that the person performing was not MIMS”, stated the concert attendee.

Upon learning about the “MIMS” imposter, Capitol Recording artist MIMS issued this statement:

” My deep apologies to all my Grecian fans that came out and thought they were going to see a MIMS concert and instead saw someone that was pretending to be me. I was here in the United States working on my new album. My legal team is aggressively investigating the people and promoters responsible for doing this and plans on swiftly and severely initiating legal action to hold them accountable”, stated MIMS via phone.

MIMS debut album “Music Is My Savior” produced one of the biggest songs in 2007 and made airplay milestones with the #1 smash “This is Why I’m Hot” . The single also sold over 2 million ring tunes worldwide.

Washington Heights, New York-born MIMS began DJ-ing in his early teens, and at age 20, appeared in Baby Blue Sound crew’s Much Music Awards Best Video nominee “Love Em All.” Last year, his independent release of “This is Why I’m Hot” attracted local New York radio play, and a Capitol Records deal.

MIMS is currently in the studio working on his sophomore release which is schedule for release this fall.

the real mims

[thank you mixtape for the heads up]

bass madness

so our bass player has lost the plot completely now. he has just bought an electric upright double bass thingy. it’s heavy and very tall and has a very swanky case.  it also looks really, really cool. i predict that we will need heavier security at the next gig to stop people swarming the stage.

we are getting together tonight to try out this newest addition to the empire that is bad mathematics. it’ll be loud, exciting and probably very silly. our drummer is going away for a month after that so we will be having a break from gigging over the summer.

i will try and remember to write some miscellaneous nonsense here from time to time. in the meantime, be good, be bad or be silly… just make sure you do it to music.

the day after the day after the day after

so we are well and truly back to earth. feet planted fairly firmly on the ground.

i was in the supermarket the day before yesterday and no-one recognised me. so there you go. i am now full of cold and feeling horribly ill.. not the sign of a superstar… but there you go again.

we are getting ready for the next gig. an acoustic set with various great people like the velvoids, the ducky boyz and all. all our friends. scary prospect. very exciting and can’t wait.

i am feeling much better about the last gig. it wasn’t our best but that’s ok. you can’t always be at your best. i’ve listened to the live tracks and they’re very serious. none of the fun of the last gig but with a dimension that we can play with.

we suffered from a lack of people. that is something that we try to avoid but it does affect you.

i’ve been told off already because i didn’t do enough local publicity. next time right ?

i am working on the blog. trying to raise our profile! if you have any ideas please let me know.
